Jelly Babies were introduced to mark the end of world war 1 in 1919 as Peace Babies by Bassett's of Sheffield. World War 2 led to the suspension of  the manufacture of the then Peace Babies due to war time shortages, not until 1953 when the product was relaunched were they then became known as Jelly Babies.
